Has anyone else here tried any diets to lose weight or be healthier?  I did a modified Atkins diet before and lost 15-20 pounds.  It was very rough as you basically do not eat carbohydrates.

I had a bad habit of eating 4-8 slices of bread each day and that is an easy way to gain weight.  Now I just try not to eat bread at home.  Only when eating out.  So far it is working and I am not putting much weight back on.

Probably need to do atkins again in the future, but will wait a while first.

It is essential for the body to have a bit of all foods - carbs, iron, protein etc. Diets don't work as they cut out essentials.

Breakfast is essential as long as it is reasonably healthy - that gives us the proper body's sugars etc for the morning until lunch.

Weight loss too fast, drains the muscle from the heart and often results in heart attacks or worse. Then it hits the body's organs - slowly (if annorexic it's quicker), but still affects nonetheless.

Each person is built differently - different muscle ratio to the next person etc, so it takes less time for one person to ruin themsleves than another person.

People say "Oh, I only do it a bit and only cut out this that and the other...." fact is, we cannot cut anything out, just cut down, take extra walks, a bit of cardio vascular excercise too and that's all it needs really.  Smiley

Diets are to make money for those introducing them with their books etc, that's all. There is a very high awareness out there, with those doing those diet books, that people are weight conscious, so that's what they prey on.  Wink

I`m always on a diet of some kind. I feel best when i`m on a vegan vegetarian diet. Some people wonder where I get my protein on a strict vegetarian diet. I love to do bodybuilding and believe it or not, my vegan diet gives me a huge amount of protein from plant based sources. I feel strong and healthy! Athletes, bodybuilders, regular folk, anyone can try a vegan vegetarian diet to feel at their best. I know it`s the diet i do best on and maybe it could be your ticket too Roll Eyes
