Being self employed has to be the best in my opinion.

I once had a job doing tow jobs, that could be fun as there is a lot of driving and you are getting paid for  a reasonably easy job. + you never know what you are gonna see.

I often thought about being self-employed, but there's a lot more riding on it, isn't there?

I have never gone for that option, always been too worried with all the ins and outs. It's very involved here, so it always put me off trying. getting a loan to start a business to be self-employed here, is like trying to get blood out of a stone.

self employment has its own advantages and disadvantages.  Sure it might be hard getting going, but it does make for more stability if you can get established.  Not like you are gonna get fired.

True, you can't fire yourself, LOL.
Big risks though if it doesn't work out and many businesses have failed, but good if it can keep going nonetheless.  Smiley

the best job I have ever had has probably been when I was Roofing.. job was hard but kept you on your toes at all times.  first i hated it but when I got with the new crew it was a blast
